Bernd Münier (DMU):
Landskabsmodeller i terrestriske biotoper - naturgrundlag
og historisk arealanvendelse

Overview of software and spatial data used for data preparation and modelling:

GIS-software: ArcView 3.1 on WinNT and Win95.

Map database: Implemented into a raster data model. Table 1 gives an overview of data-sources and how they have been combined to reflect physiotope variables and types of management.

Table 1: Primary data sets used for input to the model database, the main data sources and their original scale and format.

Most of the input maps for generating the basic data layers for the model were vector maps in scale 1:25.000 and had to be converted to raster format. A grid size of 10 m was used to preserve minor areas and narrow, almost linear features as bottoms of valleys and salt marshes. In the modelling step an output resolution of 25 x 25 m grids is used to cut down processing time, but grid size can easily be redefined by the user if desirable.
